With the release of 8.1, Microsoft has bundled a couple of new Bing apps. They are installed as Tiles in the Start Menu and appear on the far right. The new Windows 8.1 Food and Drink app includes tons of features, including finding recipes, meal planning, shopping list integration, wine selections and more. A cool new feature built into Windows 8.1 is the Hand Fee system. The Food and Drink application takes advantage of it during your actual preparation of the meal. With your laptop or tablet (web cam needed) in the kitchen, while you are viewing a recipe that supports Hands Free operation, you will see a button to activate it. As you prepare the actual meal and get your hands dirty, you don't even have touch the screen or keyboard to move between the pages of the recipe. It's displayed, step by step in very large fonts and all you have to do is wave your hand in front of your web cam to move between pages. It's a great example of how technology can be useful in everyday life. And not just for playing games.
